Fee Guide

At Neil Markham & Associates, we offer both NHS and private dental services:

NHS dental treatment

NHS treatment includes all treatment necessary to secure and maintain your oral health. Where necessary, NHS treatment also includes restoring the function of teeth.

Private dental treatment

Private treatment includes all treatment necessary to secure and maintain your oral health as well as longer appointment times with your dentist and the use of premium dental materials.

Where necessary, private treatment also includes restoring the function of teeth with a choice of high quality, natural looking materials

NHS dental fees

With NHS dental treatments, the charge you pay depends on the treatment you need to keep your mouth, gums and teeth healthy. You will only ever be asked to pay one charge for each complete course of treatment, even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it – either Band 1, Band 2 or Band 3.
NHS fee guide from 1 April 2009

Band 1 – course of treatment £16.50

This covers an examination, diagnosis (e.g x-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems, a scale and polish if needed and application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealants.

Band 2 course of treatment - £45.60

This covers everything listed in Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root canal work or if your dentist needs to take out one or more of your teeth.

Band 3 course of treatment - £198

This covers everything listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus crowns, dentures or bridges.

Exemption from NHS charges

You are an exempt patient if you are: Or, you are entitled to free NHS dental services because during the course of treatment you, or your partner receive: These are the only benefits that entitle you to free NHS dental services. Proof of exemption may be requested upon arrival for your first appointment. Please ask a member of our team if you are unsure whether you are exempt for NHS dental services.

NHS referrals

If you have to be referred to another dentist for another course of treatment you can expect a second charge. Some minor treatments, including having stitches removed or repair to dentures (if they can be mended) can be free.

Private treatment fees

As private dental treatment fees can vary depending on your specific circumstances, we advise that you speak to your dentist, to find out more about the best treatment for you and the cost involved.
